The Council of EurAdopt met in Luxemburg.
During March 31st and April 1st the Council of EurAdopt met in Luxemburg, hosted by the EurAdopt
members AIAE and Red Cross (Luxemburg). All councilors attended the meeting, representing the 12 countries where EurAdopt is currently present. Issues discussed included: the current status of intercountry adoptions with a continuous trend of decrease in the number of both adoptions and prospective adoptive parents; the need for more assistance to the families, especially during post-adoption; the need of better coordination between the accredited adoption bodies and the Central Authorities; the risks of improper behavior and its consequences on the attitude and general public opinion regarding intercountry adoption. These and other themes will be dealt with in the coming months and will also be addressed during the 2018 EurAdopt Conference which will be held in Milan (Italy) on May 24-25, 2018 (see other news).
