The 2014 EurAdopt Conference a great success!
On the 23-24 April, 2014 the biannual EurAdopt Conference was held in Stockholm, Sweden.
The title for this year’s EurAdopt Conference was “ADOPTION FOR THE RIGHT REASONS; an option for permanency.” During the conference experts and practitioners had the opportunity to discuss and share experiences and knowledge on various issues related to child welfare and adoption. The dignified speakers from around the world paid special attention to the following three sub topics:
> The importance of “The 1993 Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption“ to safeguard the best interests of the child; good practices in intercountry adoption, challenges and the need for improvements.
> Post adoption services and support as an integral part of a successful adoption. How to best support the adoptee’s and the adoptive family’s needs
> Domestic adoption contra long term foster care; challenges and experiences.
The conference was attended by over 200 delegates representing 24 different countries. The EurAdopt Conference provided a good forum for experts and practitioners to meet and discuss current and relevant issues related to child welfare.
We are already now looking forward to the next EurAdopt Conference that will take place in the Netherlands in April 2016.
